Hi there! Welcome to St. John’s.

Whether you’re just checking things out or you’re exploring faith, we’re so happy that you’re here.

Who are we?

We’re contemporary & traditional,
young & aging,
families & singles,
play-filled grown-ups & kids,
natives & transplants,
straight, LGBT, & queer,
locals & San Francisco Bay Area neighbors.

We come together to celebrate God’s love in community and share that love with our city and the world.

What’s worship like?

We gather for worship together every Sunday at 10:00 am.

You’ll find an informal space where coffee is welcome and the Spirit is moving through songs, stories, rituals, prayer, and art—all in our beautiful historic sanctuary. Our music incorporates both traditional hymns and contemporary songs.

We strive to be intergenerational in all we do, so children are always invited to worship with their families. At the center of our sanctuary is a special table filled with activities & crafts for kids.

What do we believe?

St. John’s belongs to the Presbyterian Church (USA) denomination.

We use the full range of scriptural and traditional language, reflecting God’s diversity as feminine, masculine, & beyond gender, both powerful & vulnerable. We honor the integrity of the cultural language of oppressed people groups, though we may find it unsettling. We seek to imitate Christ’s language of peace and equality amidst the oppressive, patriarchal culture reflected in the Bible.

We speak of inclusion, deliverance, and justice for all people.

The PC (USA) affirms all LGBTQ people and defines marriage as a lifelong covenant between any two people.

How can I get involved?

From our Harvest Food Pantry to our music team to our meditation evenings, we have all sorts of easy ways that you can connect with others, build relationships, and serve our San Francisco neighbors.

Where are we located?

You’ll find us at 25 Lake Street in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco.

Parking

On Sundays, limited parking is available along the white curb on the north side of our building. You can also park in the East Parking Lot at St. Anne’s Home, just three blocks from our building on Lake Street. Additional street parking is available throughout the neighborhood.

There is also a free parking lot just four blocks away in the Presidio. This lot does require walking up and down hills.
