Redwood Restoration Tour

Our partners at Save the Redwoods League have invited us to visit one of their local redwood restoration projects. Join us on Friday 3/25 from 11am-1pm for this special educational experience and learn more about caring for creation in our own backyard.

In the Santa Cruz Mountains lies one of the last remaining significant old-growth redwood groves in the Bay Area. Save the Redwoods League protected Peters Creek grove, located within Portola Redwoods State Park, over several decades. In 2014, the League purchased the final piece of this old-growth area, allowing private entrance into this grove.

About the hike: 4 mile lollipop loop hike with ~500 feet of elevation. Please bring lunch, water, layers, weather protection and sturdy shoes. There are 3 stream crossings and water can be high in the spring.

DIRECTIONS:

Check out this Google Maps link of the Peters Creek Trailhead.

  • Continue to follow CA-84 for 6.5 miles west

  • Turn right at Alpine Road

  • After 3.5 miles you will reach a fork in the road, go left onto Portola State Park Road

  • After you pass a long row of mailboxes start slowing down, the destination is just around the corner on your left
