The Compassion Team allocates 10% of St. John’s budget to mission giving. The recipients are:
Harvest — distributes groceries to about 250 needy families and individuals every Saturday of the year.
Carbon Offsets — to plant trees on Mount Kilimanjaro.
La Iglesia Presbyteriana de la Mision — is a sister congregation that is located in the Mission District.
Dolores Street Community Services — provides neighborhood-based shelter, housing, advocacy and support for working-poor men and formerly homeless people with AIDS seeking dignity, health and hope in San Francisco’s Mission and Castro districts.
Edge Campus Ministries — The Edge is an ecumenical Campus Ministry at San Francisco State University.
Hamilton Family Center ($5,000) — offers to homeless clients a comprehensive array of support services, including case management, child care, counseling, housing referral, advocacy, financial assistance, that enhances a family's prospects of securing permanent housing and achieving self sufficiency.
Network Ministries — offers compassionate, effective service to the poor in the Tenderloin area.
